For our October meeting, Joe Nestlerode will present Part II of his ‘Back-to-Basics’ Bowl Turning Demo. During Part I back in June, Joe showed how a bowl blank was cut from half of a log, and then demonstrated how that blank was turned to a rough bowl.
Now that the rough-turned bowl has dried and stabilized, Part II of the demo will show how it is finish-turned to it’s final shape and thickness. Strategies for work-holding with different types of jam chucks, tool selection, cutting techniques, and design considerations will be discussed.
Prior to the demo, we will have Show & Tell this month, so bring in your latest work!
