FIRST STATE WOODTURNERS CLUB
MISSION
The First State Woodturners club is a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners.
The club provides a place for woodturners to meet and discuss woodturning. We have lathes available and experienced turners to demonstrate safe procedures and many different styles and techniques.
EDUCATIONAL: The First State Woodturners Club has members of varying skill levels. All woodturners share their skills and knowledge with the other members. Experienced and new turners both learn from discussions and “Hands On” turning.
OTHER BENEFITS: Club members regularly have access to fallen trees, limbs, etc. and share this wood. Members with chain saws can help cut up turning wood which is then shared with everyone.
Our club will work with other clubs on the East Coast to bring well-known demonstrators to the area.

FIRST STATES' PROFILE
The First State Woodtruners Club serves the area around New Castle DE, including the nearby areas of southern PA, southern NJ and eastern MD. The club was started with 15 members. Now we have over 50 members and still growing. We have experienced turners who teach, and brand new turners who are just starting out.

Membership is open to all interested in woodturning. Annual dues are $25.00 per person per year (calendar year January through December).
Members are encouraged to also join the American Association of Woodturners, our national organization. AAW ( http://www.woodturner.org/) publishes a quarterly magazine about woodturning, and an annual directory of members and resources. It organizes an annual symposium with demonstrations, tools, wood and other turning related items. It also features an instant gallery of participants’ work.
