Theo will demonstrate his technique for turning a platter. The size, shape and features of the platter as well as wood selection are discussed. If you are thinking about turning bowls, then a platter is a great way to start. While the principles are the same, a platter is much less challenging, but the results are just as gratifying.
Theo will cover:
- Wood selection and platter design
- Tool selection and control
- Chuck mounting alternatives for the best results
- Bowl gouge and scraper techniques
- Sanding and finishing
Everyone is welcome to attend, including non-members. The demo will start at 7 PM US Eastern Time on February 3rd. Theo will open the meeting at approximately 6:30 PM for Meet & Greet and audio/video testing.
