In the first part of the session, Paul will cover grain direction, ways of mounting a blank on the lathe, tool selection, bevel angles, spigots and recesses, and turning and finishing a simple bowl. The second part of the session will cover preparation of a natural edge blank and turning a thin-walled natural edge bowl, including the techniques for cutting an interrupted edge and the approach for turning thin walls.
There are some examples of Paul’s work on his website.
